Silver Vein is a nu metal band based out of Sturgis, SD and currently we are going through a line up change as one of the members of Silver Vein, Velda Snow, is battling a severe mental illness and drug addiction.

The song that we are sending you is called "Chopped and Screwed" and is from the album "Keep It Between The Lines" and it is a song written by lead vocalist Dean Allen Snow who is a very talented musician and a prolific writer.

The topic of the song is about standing up to your bullies and believing in yourself.
Dean had been a victim of bullying throughout his life and lived in an abusive home where drinking, drugging, and violence were the norm. Even though Dean lived in such a torrid environment he still managed to remain positive and never let it turn him into a monster although this is what others would make of him.

The lyrics express the pain and frustration of being judged and looked down upon by the bullies that the Dean had once idolized and thought were friends, family or lovers and they had betrayed Dean. Haunted by the shame Dean sees in his own reflection when he looks into the eyes of those bullies, Dean felt like they were beating him down with just a simple look and though he once pursued his dreams with a strong passion and drive, he was made to feel like it was impossible and foolish. 

However, as Dean has continued to pursue his dreams, he had found success and self-love, while the other people are still stuck in their negative ways. Despite the hurt and disappointment caused by these bullies, Dean has compassion and sympathy towards them, because he recognizes that their hostility is rooted in their own unhappiness and insecurity. Overall, the lyrics main goal is to educate other people (who may be feeling the same way) on the importance of being true to oneself and not allowing others to define you as a person or dictate your path in life.

As you can plainly see there is no refrain or chorus in the lyrics. Dean wanted it to feel like he was actually talking directly to all those bullies out there. This kind of music is part of the trauma core genre.

The song Chopped and Screwed (which can be found on all major streaming platforms) is available for commercial use and is going to be featured in the soundtrack for the movie Serial Killer (In Love) which is a very serious and very dark film following a toxic romantic relationship and discusses the topics of rape, prostitution, drug abuse and other addictions. It is slated to earn $100 million dollars. The entire soundtrack, including the title song which is the main theme music "Serial Killer (In Love)" for the movie is entirely written by the band. The movie is partly based on true events in singer and songwriter Dean Allen Snow's relationship with his current wife Velda Marie Snow.
